Despite being from our very first album, ‘World Fantasty’ on Not Not Fun, this song has persisted as one of the FV favs. It was written while in our tour van on a long drive. Glad to see it still captivates.
Black Pus/Foot Village - Split 12”. Black Pus is Lightning Bolt drummer Brian Chippendale’s solo project. It’s an acquired taste. Foot Village requires taste I have yet to acquire. The cover art is screen printed onto a repurposed wildlife poster. My copy features kangaroos on the front and lots of interesting information about koalas on the back.
Yo! Former Foot Village member Citizen Kinsman aka Brian Kinsman aka Charlemagne Lazarus Kinsman plays on the new album by clipping. that Sub Pop is putting out this June. Brian Chippendale of Black Pus/Lightning Bolt plays on the bonus 7” that comes with pre-orders. In other words, this album is going to be sich. Def pick up a copy!
NEW CLIPPING. SONG! & SUB POP ALBUM NOW ON PRESALE!!
Hey! It’s the day every clipping. fan has been waiting for!!! You can finally hear a track from clipping.’s follow up to ‘midcity’, their debut for Sub Pop, entitled ‘CLPPNG’!!! The song is called “work work” and features an amazing guest verse from Cocc Pistol Cree as well.
Then, to make things even hotter, the Sub Pop album is now on pre-sale. Available on CD, Digital, and Double 12” Vinyl, here at Deathbomb we highly recommend the vinyl version. I’m cool to encounter weirdos regularly. I can even tolerate coming across assholes (weirdos or assholes covers 98% of us) and all I’m good with it. Still, I frequently feel confused by humans. They are intense, misguided, complex and flawed to the hilt, yet amazing. My own life is a mixture of headfucks and total awesome. Mostly awesome. However no matter how awesome, I always feel like I have it fairly on cue while at the same time feeling like it’s a furious paced landslide of wtf. That’s what life’s like – fucking strange.
When I listen to Foot Village I feel they accept a similar situation. I think the last time I was this purely delighted and confused by music I was listening to Tomahawk, or maybe it was Peeping Tom. I forget. Anyway these guys are, well.. they just are. They have this video which is unlike anything I am seeing right now and their sound is as unlike anything too. This is why I like.
Foot Village are all about drums, sporting four kits in their band. Too insane. Then there’s the Shonan Knife sounding grrl-vocalist. Pure joy, basically.
More on these guys very soon. For now – latest vid “New Jersey” from latest album Make Memories. Directed by Alec Sutherland. Alec did a wonderful job because I found myself ashamedly feeling sexual endearment for the protagonist. So so wrong, I know. Oh well. Life you cray, or something. Enjoy.
steronoknex said: Where can I find the original songs used for the "chicken and cheese" remixes by nero's day at disneyland?
Short question, but necessary(?) long answer.
The Nero’s Day At Disneyland “Chicken & Cheese” tracks are actually covers of Foot Village, not remixes. We commissioned a few dozen bands to cover this song and then we made “It’s A Small World” style medleys out of them for the finale of our album ‘Anti-Magic’. We actually got so much material that the vinyl, cd, cassette, and itunes versions of these medleys are completely different bands. Since we had to cut up the covers so much for this, we shared all the full covers, along with the practice space recording we sent to bands as a reference at the Free Music Archive.
The finished cd version of the Chicken & Cheese medley can be heard on our bandcamp. At some point I guess we should put the vinyl, cassette, and itunes versions of the medley on the bandcamp too…. if I have the master files anywhere (oops!).
It was a busy year for Foot Village. ‘Make Memories’, our fourth album was released by Northern Spy. We toured both the west coast (with clipping.) and the east coast. We dropped 3 music videos. Plus we released a handful of “bonus” material. Here is everything in one convenient place.
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to a show, helped with the music videos, picked up a copy of the album, shared our music with a friend, helped book a show, gave us a place to stay, or any of a million other things that our needy asses couldn’t have survived without your help. Biggest thanks of all to Northern Spy for believing in this album.
